What do I get? | * ELFIN PLUM - a cotton hair wrap made from purple, dusty pink and cream cotton thread, in a block pattern. With coordinating handmade seaglass beads and Tibetan silver metal beads to finish. Please note - This hair wrap will be supplied with a LARGE LOOP so to enable it to be threaded into both dreadlocked and loose hair. Hair wrap is pictured WITH glitter thread, but you can choose WITHOUT for a matte finish. * SILVER MOONSHINE - a cotton dread wrap made from purple and grey cotton thread. With coordinating silver beads and irregular antique Venician glass beads in the body of the wrap. A detachable rustic disc charm on the bottom of the wrap. Dread wrap is pictured WITHOUT glitter thread, but you can choose WITH for a shimmery finish. * Silver coloured hand-wrapped wire adjustable dreadlock jewellery, with rustic Tibetan silver disc charm. (These products are available to purchase separately. Please search for: ELFIN PLUM hair wrap; SILVER MOONSHINE dread wrap; SILVER DISC cuff in my shop). * A hand-printed heavy cotton storage bag, made from bleach-free recycled cotton using eco-ink. With cotton pull cords to close. * A basic tie-in tool, handmade from solid copper. Tools come with illustrated instructions. * A large packet of braiding-bands (approximately 50 bands). Braiding bands hold the end of your plaits (braids) in place if you don't have dreadlocks. (These are not needed if your hair is dreadlocked). |
Length | To decide on the length you want your wraps, first decide where you want it in your hair. Most people choose to place their hair wraps either at the top of their head or behind their ear. Measure your hair in inches, then minus one inch to find your best length. Please remember curly hair will spring shorter than straight hair. Please make sure you have measured your hair in INCHES (not cm). Contact me if you require further assistance with measuring. My wraps are sold in length brackets or 10-11 inches, 12-13 inches etc. That does not take into account the length of the tassle. The thickness of each wrap can vary ever so slightly, but in general, they a little thinner than a pencil. |
How do I attach it? | Please note - Both wraps come with a LARGE LOOP as standard, which makes installation into both dreadlocked and loose hair really easy. Full instructions provided. Hook the large loop at the top of your wrap through the tie-in tool. Pinch the end of the tie-in tool together, to form a point. Thread the tool through the top of your dread or plait, pulling the loop of dread wrap along with the tool. The loop of your wrap will now be threaded through your dread, ready for you to follow the instructions for wrap installation. |
How do I care for my Hair Wrap? | An unwashed hair wrap will last for years, a regularly washed hair wrap will last for months. Therefore, for maximum lifespan, please remove before washing hair. Whereas plastic beads can be washed with the hair, metal, wooden and mottled-glass beads may deteriorate over time. Therefore, I recommend you remove wraps with these beads prior to washing. Please do not shower, swim, sleep or be active with your feathers or charms attached to your wrap. Hair wraps without charms can be tied back with a LOOSE hair band when being active. When not in use, please make sure your hair wrap is thoroughly dry before storage and store in a breathable bag to allow air circulation. |
Will I receive the exact item shown? | I do my best to recreate the original picture but you won't receive the exact same wrap or charm as in the photograph. The nature of hand-made products is that there will always be tiny variations, although I strive to keep these to an absolute minimum. I aim to copy the pattern exactly of the hair wrap photographed, and I keep a detailed inventory of the DMC colour numbers I have used in each and every wrap, so I can make the wrap as precisely as possible. Very occasionally, my embroidery cotton, or specific beads are out of stock. In these instances, I will make an appropriate substitution. I try and match any feathers used as closely to the listing picture as possible. However each feather is individual, and could be smaller/larger than pictured. |
